Kickstarter Board Game Roundup | The New Science, Ace Detective, and Viticulture: The Strategic Game of Winemaking
Some interesting games from the world of Kickstarter
The New Science is a 2-5 player worker placement game where you play as one of 5 great scientific minds (Isaac Newton, Galileo Galilei, Johannes Kepler, Gottfried Liebniz, and Anthanasius Kircher). The object of the game is to gain as much prestige as possible by researching, experimenting, and publishing various sciences.
I’m always interested in games that stay away from the standard fantasy/outer space/medieval themes so this one caught my eye. The artwork is very well done and keeps with the theme nicely.
Another game with a pretty interesting theme is Ace Detective. It’s a storytelling card game based on 1940′s noir novels with artwork from the archives of Black Mask Magazine.
There are two ways to play. “Storyteller” version and “Hardboiled Detective” version which should make for good replay value. Ace Detective was designed by Richard Launius, the designer of Arkham Horror
Viticulture: The Strategic Game of Winemaking
Looking for a game to indulge your inner wino or just impress your friends with how cultured and civil you are even though you play nerdy board games? Viticulture lets you do just that.
The object of viticulture is to build your winery into the most successful in Tuscany. The game is broken up into seasons and years in which the goal is to get 20 victory points.
